I recently answered a “Dear Coach…” question for The Product Refinery. The question was, essentially: we have a bunch of stuff we know we need to address, so where do we begin?

- Know what your business and product goals are and make them core to your decision-making
- Pick a framework (it doesn’t matter which!) that makes your process easy to understand and communicate
- Use your framework to start a conversation, rather than as an infallible guide
- Get the whole team involved in deciding where to start…
- …but don’t let it take weeks to decided – just pick something; you can always change your mind (except when you can’t – in which case you probably picked the wrong thing).
